Project Name: Blowdown Reforestation 

Project Location: Chippewa National Forest, Minnesota

Trees Planted By WeWOOD: 4,793

Project Description: WeWOOD, American Forests and the U.S. Forest Service reforested more than 600 acres of Minnesota's Chippewa National Forest with white, red and jack pines and white spruce to restore an area severely damaged by a blowdown.

Project Name: TREES Project In Ghana

Project Location: Volta, Ashanti, Northern and WA Regions of Ghana

Project Description: WeWOOD and Trees for the Future Ghana partnered to help restore the forests in areas that have the highest rate of deforestation and poverty throughout the country. The TREES project works to merge food security and environmental rehabilitation by helping the community to adopt and manage sustainable agroforestry systems.

Project Name: Lower Rio Grande National Wildlife Refuge

Project Location: Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Texas

Trees Planted By WeWOOD: 7,500

Project Description: WeWOOD and American Forests a are partnering for to help reforest areas of Texas' Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge to improve wildlife habitat. This year's project is planting more than 33,000 trees across 42 Acres. Texas' Lower Rio Grande Valley is one of the most biologically diverse places in North America. It is home to more than 530 species of birds, 40 percent of North America's butterfly species, 1,200 plant species and 17 threatened or endangered species, including ocelot and jaguarundi.

Project Description: Earth Day Network developed the Canopy Project to plant trees that help the world's impoverished communities sustain themselves and their local economies. So far, 1.5 million trees have been planted and WeWOOD has committed to planting 5,000 more.  

Project Name: Up Top Fire Restoration

Project Location: Bitterroot National Forest, Montana and Idaho

Trees Planted By WeWOOD: 5,000

Project Description: WeWOOD, American Forests and the U.S. Forest Service are reforesting 600 acres of Bitterroot National Forest with 180,000 Lodgepole pine, Engelmann Spruce and Douglas-fir to reforest a popular recreation area affected by a 2011 wildfire.

Project Name: Mountain Communities Wildfire ReLeaf

Project Location: San Bernardino County, CA

Trees Planted By WeWOOD: 5,000

Project Description: WeWOOD and American Forests have partnered with the Mountain Communities Wildfire ReLeaf Project to reforest up to 750 acres of San Bernardino County, CA. WeWOOD will provide 5,000 Jeffrey, Sugar, Ponderosa and Coulter pines to an area severely affected by drought, a bark beetle infestation and intense wildfires.
